Second Wind

Story

This song was written by Marc about Pattie's Mother who at 85 is enjoying life more than ever with her new fellar, and, truly has her "second wind"!

Lyrics

There's a spryness, in her step today,

She’s movin’ with a different gait;

Giddy, not silly, she freely signals,

A change of pattern taking place.

Chorus:

Out 80 years, its love I fear,

Its Nonnie’s time to dance;

There’s a fellar, whose eyes now hold her,

Its Nonnie’s time to dance.

Years have paced, and lent their time,

To right the feelings left behind;

Her face now life, now faced with love,

Laugh and drink that glass of wine .

Story

Billy Rose and Nat King Cole - what more can you say! This was a childhood favorite of Marc's: "I remember Mom playing this on the old hi-fi - I believe Dad even like it!"

Prayer for the Gulf

Marc N. Davidson

               (first verse adapted from traditional Cajun Prayer)

                Oh, my nets, Lord, they’re full and heavy,

My traps to your bounty, yields;

I harvest so many riches,

From your bayou, Gulf, and field.

Let the dark clouds roll back from the coastland,

And the balance of life find its sun;

Bless the the bayous, the fields, and the wetlands,

Let the Gulf heal her wound as she can.

 Chorus / break

 Eaux, aux, aux, aux Laissez les bons temps retourner! (x2)

I got hands that are calloused and hardened,

From the lines that I pull from the sea;

The marshland, its life, is my garden,

Bon sante, bons amis et ma famille.

Oh, my nets, Lord, they’re full and heavy,

My traps to your bounty, yields;

I harvest so many riches,

From your bayou, Gulf, and field.

Lyrics

Homeful

Marc N. Davidson
12.3.10

He walks in a shadow,  and speaks with an angel;

I hear him quietly explain that it’s clear in his,

Head and it matters, even though they don’t know that,

He walks in a shadow, and speaks with an angel.

She stands by an altar, and waits for her savior;

She bids that he come, understand where she’s been and,

Guide her to shelter, protect and be loving,

She stands by an altar, and waits for her savior.

Chorus

All   your   days, you have waited for someone to care,

                    An angel will lead you to a hopeful and homeful place

Along  the  way, there’s a hopeful and homeful place.

He had stood on the corner, familiar to many;

He’d wave and receive, often say something kind but,

Never revealing, the demons that drove him to,

Stand on the corner, familiar to many.

Chorus

All   your   days, you have waited for someone to care,

                    An angel will lead you to a hopeful and homeful place

Along  the  way, there’s a hopeful and homeful place.
